The 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Balıkesir's Sındırgı district resonated throughout the Marmara and Aegean regions. The communication issues that followed sparked public outrage.

The earthquake was felt in major cities like Istanbul, Izmir, Manisa, and Bursa, with nearly 500 aftershocks recorded. Initial reports indicated that 4 buildings collapsed and 26 people were lightly injured.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that while it was fortunate that there were no casualties, the collapse of communication infrastructure was unacceptable. Social media saw a surge of criticism directed at GSM operators.

Yerlikaya's comment that "We are truly extraordinary during and after disasters" drew sharp criticism from both earthquake victims and the opposition. Citizens criticized the government's crisis management.

GSM operators faced backlash for communication disruptions following the earthquake. The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure suggested that citizens use alternative communication applications.
