Striking Data on Climate Change and Global Warming Effects

A report on climate change in Istanbul.

Climate change and global warming have become one of the most significant issues today. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has published an important report on this matter.

According to the report by the Istanbul Planning Agency, surface temperatures in Istanbul are expected to range between 21°C and 45°C by 2025. This situation leads to a significant heat island effect, especially in districts like Esenler, Bağcılar, Güngören, and Bahçelievler.

Children, the elderly, and low-income groups are among those most affected by this temperature increase. The report predicts that the areas at risk of both flooding and drought will increase by 2.5 times by 2030.

The average water reservoir filling rate in Istanbul has dropped to 31%. This indicates that short-term solutions to the water crisis may be insufficient.
