Drought and Erosion: Emergency Action Plan for Turkey

Drought and erosion are significant environmental issues facing Turkey. In recent years, climate change and population growth have threatened water resources.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has prepared emergency action plans for lakes at risk of drought. These plans aim to prevent declines in water levels and deterioration in water quality.

In the recent workshop, the status of lakes such as Eber, Akşehir, Bafa, Beyşehir, Burdur, İznik, Sapanca, and Seyfe was discussed. Experts provided important recommendations on water conservation and management.

Drought prediction and early warning systems will be established. These systems will provide necessary alerts to farmers and relevant institutions to ensure more efficient use of water resources.

These efforts are critical to protecting Turkey's water resources and preventing future water shortages. Every individual must pay attention to water conservation.
