Current Situation and Response to the Çanakkale Fire

A forest fire occurred in Çanakkale's Ayvacık district, starting on July 15 and lasting for 21 hours. The cause of the fire was identified as two individuals with mental health issues.
The fire affected the villages of Naldöken, Tuzla, Taşağıl, and Çamköy. Aerial firefighting efforts included 4 planes and 6 helicopters, while ground efforts involved 24 water tankers, 12 water supply vehicles, and 16 fire trucks.

As a result of the fire, some houses, barns, and animal shelters were damaged. Additionally, trees in the courtyard of the historic Hüdavendigar Mosque caught fire, causing damage to the mosque.
After the fire was brought under control, the gendarmerie investigated the cause and identified M.Ö. (62) and R.Ö. (75) as the culprits. However, the suspects were released after judicial procedures.

Damage assessment work has begun after the fire. Agricultural lands, animal shelters, and many agricultural tools were damaged in the fire. Affected areas were photographed using drones.
