In an interview on Sözcü TV with İpek Özbey, Özdağ discussed his detention process and the reasons behind his arrest. He criticized the justice system, stating, "There are two different legal systems in Turkey."

Özdağ emphasized that his detention was not in line with the public's conscience, stating, "It is not possible to detain 86 million people." He also highlighted the unreliability of negotiations with the PKK.

He expressed that Turkey's greatest strength lies in the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, emphasizing the importance of national unity with the message, "The first line of defense is the border."
