According to recent survey results, the dream of AGI (Advanced Artificial Intelligence) is in a deadlock. Experts indicate that current AI models cannot surpass human intelligence. After the AI boom in 2022, the tech industry suggested that this goal could be achieved with more data and resources.

However, most of the $56 billion investment made in 2024 was spent on building massive data centers. The carbon emissions from these centers have tripled since 2018. Experts state that this situation stems from the limitations of AI.

79% of survey participants stated that perceptions of AI's capabilities differ from reality. Additionally, the ability of the Chinese company DeepSeek to achieve similar performance at a much lower cost than Silicon Valley's expensive models indicates that the scaling path is at a deadlock.

However, this does not mean that progress in AI has come to an end. The use of specialized models, known as reasoning models, may yield more promising results in the future. Thomas Dietterich from Oregon State University noted that while many GenAI ventures may fail, some could achieve tremendous success.
