Life Expectancy in European Union Countries Increases to 81.7 Years

Life expectancy is increasing in the European Union!
According to data released by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), the average life expectancy in EU countries reached 81.7 years in 2024. This represents an increase of 0.3 years compared to the previous year.
Italy and Sweden lead with the longest life expectancy at 84.1 years. Spain follows with 84 years, Luxembourg with 83.5 years, and Malta with 83.3 years.
Germany has a life expectancy of 81.5 years, while France stands at 83.1 years. The countries with the lowest life expectancy are Bulgaria (75.9 years), Romania (76.6 years), and Latvia (76.7 years).
These figures indicate significant developments in health and quality of life in Europe. The increase in life expectancy is directly related to improvements in healthcare and rising living standards.
