Istanbul Public Transport Fare Regulation Proposed

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has made an important regulation in public transport fares.
The IBB Council convened to discuss the new fare proposal for public transport vehicles. This includes fare increases for buses, metros, and taxis.
AK Party Group Vice President Faruk Gökkuş stated that this fare proposal is not based on mathematical data. He emphasized that the current fare increases are sufficient and there is no need for a new hike.
The proposed fare increase by the IBB is seen as an unfair burden on the public. Gökkuş stressed that Istanbul residents should not be burdened with new costs.
Reminding that public transport is one of the primary responsibilities of local governments, Gökkuş stated that this service should be subsidized by the municipalities' own resources.
In conclusion, changes in the public transport fare regulation by the IBB will directly affect the budget of Istanbul residents. Therefore, it is a matter that the public should closely monitor.
