The European Union and the United Nations made an important joint statement regarding the situation in Ukraine.

Ahead of President Donald Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, European leaders showcased a united front. French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and other leaders emphasized that international borders cannot be changed by force.

The statement highlighted the need for strong security guarantees to protect Ukraine's sovereignty. It was also noted that their support for Ukraine would continue.

Leaders emphasized that pressure on Russia would increase as long as the war continues. They stated that sanctions would be strengthened until a fair and lasting peace is achieved.

Finally, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Ukraine's security is directly linked to the security of Europe.
