Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has put an end to the discussions regarding his candidacy. In a statement made during his detention, he indicated that he would support an alternative candidate if his candidacy is blocked.

İmamoğlu emphasized the need for democratic opposition to unite. He stated, "If my candidacy is officially blocked, another name may emerge, but that person must carry on our vision of justice, prosperity, and peace with the same determination."

İmamoğlu criticized the silence of countries that advocate for human rights and the rule of law regarding the situation in Turkey, calling it dangerous.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that İmamoğlu is the party's candidate and that they will challenge the legal conditions. He mentioned that if İmamoğlu cannot run, the most suitable alternative candidate will be determined.
