Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's bodyguard, Çağlar Türkmen, stated in his police testimony that the decision to tape the cameras was made by the protection team. This situation came to light following İmamoğlu's detention.

In the ongoing corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, İmamoğlu and many other officials were detained. Türkmen expressed that the shutting down of the cameras before the meeting was a routine procedure.

The detained bodyguard stated that the cameras in the meeting area were taped at the request of Ekrem İmamoğlu's protection team and that this was a routine practice. He also mentioned that there were jammer devices in his suitcases.

Imamoğlu previously criticized the leak of footage from a meeting he had at a fish restaurant, calling it manipulation. He stated that he had planned the meeting with the ambassador weeks in advance.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office shared details of the investigation against İmamoğlu. A detention order was issued for 100 individuals, including İmamoğlu.
