CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the lawsuit he filed against commanders regarding the dismissal of lieutenants from the TSK. This situation sparked significant political debate in Turkey.

Özel stated, "In this country, for the first time, the top students of the Air, Land, and Naval War Academies are women. This is a republican dream, and you will dismiss one of these women from the army; this is a nightmare for the republic."

Özel called for transparency regarding the ongoing new process, stating, "There is no magic wand in democracy."

President Erdoğan responded harshly to Özgür Özel's statements, saying, "If you don't watch your step, we know how to make you pay for it."

Özgür Özel also responded to criticisms regarding Adnan Beker's joining of the CHP from the IYI Party, stating, "Those who are upset about Beker's arrival are the ones who decided who came from the CHP lists on May 14."
