Water level dropped at Kozan Dam due to drought.

Drought is affecting many regions of Turkey. Kozan Dam is one of the most striking examples of this situation.

Kozan Dam was built between 1967 and 1972 and last reached full capacity in 2019. However, due to decreasing rainfall over the past six years, the water level has fallen below 10%.

Local residents can now walk in the dried lake bed due to the receding water. This situation poses serious problems for both agriculture and fishing.

Drought is not limited to Kozan Dam. Many dams across Turkey are experiencing alarming drops in water levels. For instance, the water level in Kadıköy Dam has fallen below 1%.

Authorities emphasize the need for water conservation. Otherwise, more serious problems may arise in the coming months.
