Erhurman’s Letter to the European Parliament Regarding the Statue

President Erhurman criticized the unilateral decisions regarding Cyprus in his letter to the European Parliament. This letter highlights an approach that is far from reflecting the historical realities of Cyprus.

In his letter, Erhurman reminded that the issue of missing persons in Cyprus began in 1963, not just the events of 1974. He emphasized that ignoring the missing Turkish Cypriots is unacceptable.

Erhurman also criticized the labeling of Turkey's 1974 intervention as 'occupation', stating that this only reflects the narrative of the Greek side.

He pointed out that the lack of representation of Turkish Cypriots in the European Parliament paves the way for such unilateral decisions, which is unacceptable but not surprising.
