Climate change threatens the reproductive and survival abilities of bumblebees. Researchers from Regensburg University in Germany investigated this issue.

The researchers examined field data on Bombus terrestris species from 2000 to 2014. The effects of climate change play a significant role in the health and reproductive capabilities of these bees.

Mild winters cause bees to wake up early and deplete their energy reserves. This reduces their chances of survival in spring.

Out-of-season heavy rains restrict the bees' foraging activities for pollen and nectar, making it harder for them to find food. Dr. Ruth Archer emphasized the critical role of bumblebees in ecosystems and agriculture.

This research was published in the Journal of Animal Ecology, highlighting the negative impacts of climate change on ecosystems.
