A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck in Balıkesir's Sındırgı district. It was also felt in Istanbul and surrounding areas.

The earthquake occurred on August 10, 2025, at 19:53, with a depth of 11 km. AFAD immediately began field assessments after the quake.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that there were no adverse conditions reported after the earthquake. However, 84 aftershocks were recorded.

In Balıkesir, 16 buildings collapsed in 68 rural neighborhoods, and one person lost their life. The number of injured is reported to be 29.

AFAD announced that the seismic activity in the region will be monitored 24/7. Necessary precautions are being taken to ensure public safety after the earthquake.
