A storm alert has been issued in Istanbul following an earthquake. Strong winds and rain are expected.

After the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Silivri, the Istanbul Governorate, Meteorology, and AKOM warned citizens about a strong storm expected to reach speeds of approximately 80 kilometers per hour. Citizens are advised to be cautious of potential tree and pole falls, as well as flying roofs and signs due to the storm.

The General Directorate of Meteorology warned about strong winds in the Marmara region, which could reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, along with heavy rain. It is important to take necessary precautions against the storm expected to last until Thursday.

Prof. Dr. Mikdat Kadıoğlu emphasized the need for caution regarding wind-related disasters. Keeping windows closed and taking shelter in safe places is crucial during such weather events.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen noted that seismic activities in Istanbul can have a wide impact, with wind speeds occasionally reaching 70 kilometers. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant.
