New Tunnel Project in Istanbul Reduces Travel Time Significantly

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir UraloÄŸlu inspects the new tunnel project.

A new tunnel is coming to Istanbul! The Sarıyer-Kilyos Tunnel Project will reduce travel time from 35 minutes to just 5 minutes. This project will greatly enhance Istanbul's transportation infrastructure.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir UraloÄŸlu announced the details of the project. The tunnel will be 8.2 kilometers long and will connect the northern regions of Istanbul directly to the North Marmara Highway.

Minister UraloÄŸlu stated that the project will save 3.3 billion lira annually and reduce harmful carbon emissions by 32,000 tons.

The connection between Istanbul Airport and business centers will also accelerate. This tunnel will also boost summer tourism activities in the northern parts of Istanbul.

The project is expected to be completed by 2026, with ongoing work supported by 191 machines and 914 personnel.
