Snow is expected in Istanbul! Temperatures are dropping and snowfall will intensify.

According to the latest data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, snowfall is expected in Istanbul on January 1, Thursday. The temperature is forecasted to drop to minus 1 degree. This year's first snow will cover Istanbul in a white blanket.

The Ministry of Interior announced that heavy snowfall is expected in many provinces on December 28, 2025. In provinces like Zonguldak, Düzce, and Bartın, snowfall may exceed 20 centimeters in some areas.

Heavy vehicles are now allowed to pass through Bolu Mountain after the snow. The teams worked on snow removal and salting on the D-100 highway where snow is effective.

Meteorology emphasized the need to be cautious against icing and frost after the snowfall in Istanbul. There is also a risk of avalanches in high areas.
