Ali Yerlikaya Discusses New Traffic Law and Penalties for Drivers

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced new regulations for drivers who do not yield to ambulances. These regulations aim to enhance traffic safety.
A driver in Istanbul's Şişli district was caught not yielding to an ambulance. The driver was fined 993 lira. However, with the new law proposal, this penalty will be increased. Minister Yerlikaya asked, "Do you think these penalties are deterrent?"

According to the new regulations, those who do not yield to ambulances will have their licenses revoked for 30 days and their vehicles will be banned from traffic for 30 days. Additionally, those who repeat the same violation within 5 years will have their licenses canceled.

Minister Yerlikaya reminded that ambulances carry lives and race against time, urging citizens to comply with traffic rules. He also requested that those who do not yield to ambulances report them to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
The details of the new traffic law proposal and the penalties to be applied have resonated widely in society. Citizens emphasized that these rules are not just a traffic violation but also a humanitarian responsibility.
