Defendants Released in İzmir Forest Fire Case

In the İzmir forest fire case, detained defendants have been released. The fire affected 2,196 hectares, leading to a significant disaster.
The cause of the fire was attributed to unauthorized excavations for the purpose of smuggling historical artifacts. 5 detained defendants were released under judicial control.
The fire started on August 13, 2024, resulting in the burning of 17 houses and the evacuation of 105 others. 8 suspects were detained during the subsequent investigations.
While the court continues the trials of the defendants, prison sentences are also requested for the defendants who are not detained. The hearing was postponed to address deficiencies.
