Returns to Syria Increase! 600,000 Syrians Have Returned

The United Nations announced that the number of refugees returning to Syria has exceeded 600,000. These returns are seen as a hopeful development after 14 years of conflict.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi stated that these returns occurred after the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024. Grandi emphasized that if security and support are provided, returnees could finally exit refugee status.
Grandi said, "Early recovery efforts must be bolder and faster. Otherwise, people will leave again." This situation complicates the humanitarian landscape in Syria further.
Access to basic needs such as shelter, health, and education in Syria requires international support. Necessary steps must be taken to ensure the sustainability of these returns.
