Intermittent Fasting Experience
Why Intermittent Fasting?
I used to be someone who tried diet programs but always gave up, because the forbidden foods were tempting. I had heard about IF and it sounded appealing. At least it was worth trying. When I started IF, my expectations were simple: to lose fat (not muscle mass), improve overall digestive health, cleanse my skin and intestines, and have a healthy body.
But I got more than that. The biggest benefit for me was not feeling 'tired' anymore. I started waking up more energetic. I no longer woke up feeling hungry or tired.
I did the 16/8 hour fasting/eating window. I fasted from 8pm to 12pm the next day. It wasn't difficult to adjust and once my body got used to it, it was great.
I had my first meal between 12:00 and 14:00. I started with 8-10 raw almonds and water, followed by a bowl of salad with lots of greens and 2 boiled eggs. Then I had beans or lentils and more vegetables with any grain of my choice (wheat/rice/barley/quinoa). I occasionally added yogurt or ayran.
I had dinner between 18:00 and 20:00.
Salad, sometimes beans and soup instead of salad.. I ate what I wanted. Unsweetened tea, coffee, and water.
This was the easiest plan for me to follow. I had more time for work and other things.
In addition, my eating habits improved with IF, preventing me from eating junk food late at night.
I also lost 3 kg and got rid of a bloated belly, even though I drank more fluids (coffee, ayran, tea, water). My weight then stabilized but I continued to slim down.
Along with this diet, I used supportive food, mineral, and vitamin supplements (with a doctor's recommendation). I used magnesium combinations, glutathione, collagen peptide, Q10, alpha lipoic acid, and OMEGA. Eggs and peanut butter were included in my meals. I ate dry fruits and fatty nuts between meals. I did not do a restrictive diet.
My mental and physical improvement accelerated. This was because my digestive system was able to rest and my body was better able to focus on healing its muscle fibers.
IF is now a routine in my life. If you have an irregular eating habit and digestive problems, I recommend you try it to discipline yourself.
