Economic Issues in Istanbul and Ekrem İmamoğlu's Role

Economic struggles are growing in Istanbul!
According to the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) data from September 2025, half of Istanbul residents are struggling to make ends meet. The percentage of those unable to pay their credit card debts has reached 40%. What impact does this have under the municipal management of Ekrem İmamoğlu?
According to the survey, 53.9% of participants reported struggling to get by, while 31.4% stated they could no longer meet their basic needs. This rate was 22.1% the previous month.
In Istanbul, one in three people cannot meet their basic needs. According to IPA data, the economic perception is at its lowest level in the last six months.
A large portion of Istanbul residents believe that economic risks will increase in the next six months. Unemployment and rising currency rates are among the biggest concerns for Istanbulites.
Under the leadership of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Istanbul Municipality is trying to develop various projects to cope with these issues. However, the impact of these projects is not yet sufficiently felt.
