Former CHP Mayor Selahattin Tonguç Passes Away

Former CHP mayor Selahattin Tonguç has passed away at the age of 84. He was honored in a ceremony held in Antalya.
Serving as the mayor of Antalya from 1973 to 1980, Tonguç was removed from office and arrested during the 1980 military coup. He was hospitalized on July 28 due to illness and passed away after 8 days in intensive care.
A ceremony was held in front of the former service building of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, attended by many citizens who remembered his impact on the community.
Vice President Büşra Özdemir stated, "Selahattin Tonguç will always live in the hearts of the people. We continue to walk the path he opened."
Today, Tonguç was laid to rest at Andızlı Cemetery. His legacy and approach to local governance will continue to thrive in Antalya.
