CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made important statements regarding threats against Ekrem İmamoğlu. When asked, "Are you receiving threats?" he replied, "I am, there are arrests. The state has a protection order as well."

Özel also stated regarding İmamoğlu's candidacy, "Ekrem İmamoğlu is the candidate of CHP. 15.5 million people have voted for him."

Özel emphasized, "If he cannot be a candidate, we will look for the best candidate," stressing the need to do whatever it takes to change the government.

Stating that a trustee cannot be appointed, Özel said, "No one can manage CHP who is not elected at the congress."

Özel also addressed the discussions about immunity, saying, "They cannot dare. Because we feel we have a social immunity beyond constitutional immunity."
