The flood disaster in Rize has resulted in damages amounting to 1.2 billion lira. This disaster occurred following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology.
Between September 19-21, heavy rainfall affected the Eastern Black Sea region, leading to floods and landslides in Rize and surrounding areas. Rize Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş stated that this rainfall was the highest recorded since 1977.

Following the flood disaster, the bridge on the Ardeşen-Çamlıhemşin highway collapsed, halting transportation. More than 20 village roads were closed due to floods and landslides.

Rescue operations are ongoing in the region. AFAD and other teams are evacuating citizens trapped in their homes to safety. The fact that no loss of life occurred during this process is our greatest comfort.

Damage assessments conducted after the flood disaster revealed that the financial loss is estimated at 1.2 billion lira. This figure does not include damages reported by institutions such as Highways and other agencies.
Thanks to the measures taken to prevent floods and landslides, no loss of life has been reported. The state is providing all necessary support to the region.
