Loud explosion sounds caused panic in Elazig!

The source of the sounds heard in Hankendi and Baskil districts was identified as a sonic boom caused by jets passing overhead. Governor Numan Hatipoğlu confirmed that no aircraft had crashed in the area.

Numerous reports were made to the 112 Emergency Call Center. There were also posts on social media suggesting that an aircraft had crashed, but these claims were unfounded.

A similar situation occurred in Hatay, where the sounds in Samandağ and Arsuz were also attributed to F-16 fighter jets exceeding the speed of sound.

Official statements emphasized that citizens should not believe in unfounded news. The sounds captured by security cameras were confirmed to be caused by sonic booms.
