The fire started in the agricultural land of Kepez and spread to forested areas due to the wind. However, Aytaç Kök, living in Güzelyalı, managed to protect his olive groves through his cleaning efforts.

Aytaç Kök stated, 'We did the normal maintenance. The field was plowed. We saved it because it was a bit far from the forest.' explaining how he protected his olive groves.
