Volcanic Eruptions in Indonesia: Ash Clouds Rising

Two eruptions occurred at Semeru Volcano on Java Island, Indonesia. The first eruption was recorded at 05:24 local time, followed by another at 10:08. Officials reported that the ash clouds rose approximately 600 meters high.

Indonesia, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is home to about 130 active volcanoes. These volcanoes frequently experience eruptions and volcanic activity. The Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano also experienced a severe eruption, with an ash column reaching 10 kilometers high.
Authorities warned the local population and tourists to stay at least 6 kilometers away from the crater. Although no casualties have been reported, nearby villages were covered in ash.

Volcanic eruptions may also affect tourism activities in the region. Past eruptions have led to flight cancellations at Bali International Airport. Therefore, it is advisable to check your travel plans.
