Frost Disaster Hits 37 Provinces in Turkey! Farmers in Distress

Recently, a frost disaster has affected 37 provinces in Turkey, causing significant damage to fruit orchards. Our farmers are in distress!
TZOB President Şemsi Bayraktar stated during his inspections in Kastamonu that the frost event has severely impacted fruit products in approximately 65 provinces of Turkey. Damage rates for fruits like apples, pears, and plums have reached up to 100%.

Farmers urgently need cash. They are requesting restructuring of their debts to banks. This situation is vital for farmers to continue their production.
Additionally, the threat of drought is putting farmers in a difficult position. In the coming years, Turkey risks becoming a water-scarce country. Therefore, the efficiency of irrigation systems must be improved.

Supporting our farmers is critical for our food security. To keep young people in agriculture, positive discrimination should be applied and rural development should be prioritized.
