Fire Erupts in Natural Gas Pipeline in Sivas Due to Lightning Strike

A fire in a natural gas pipeline in Sivas was triggered by a lightning strike.
Located 20 kilometers from Koyulhisar district, lightning struck the Ordu-Giresun natural gas pipeline near Ağcabel Plateau, causing a fire that affected an area of 2 square meters. The fire was controlled by BOTAŞ, fire, and gendarmerie teams.

The Sivas Governorate stated that the fire has been brought under control and that the gas leak was minimal. Therefore, no interruption in gas supply to the surrounding provinces is expected.
The fire was extinguished after approximately 10 hours of intervention. BOTAŞ officials will begin repair work once the gas in the pipeline is depleted.
