Controversial Spending and Baklava Orders in Pendik Municipality

Controversial spending in Pendik Municipality

Recent spending in Pendik Municipality has become a topic of discussion. CHP council members criticized the expenditures made from the municipal budget.

The Audit Commission Report for 2024 revealed that the municipality made rental payments to certain associations and foundations. Notably, the rent for a student dormitory belonging to the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) was 241,612 TL.

It was stated that a total of 6 million TL was paid in salaries to the mayor's five advisors, and 1 million 870 thousand TL was spent on gifts for weddings from the mayor's budget.

The report also suggested that approximately 332 thousand TL worth of baklava was purchased from a business named Gazi Burma, which corresponds to about one ton. This situation was criticized by CHP members.

CHP members noted that orders were placed for meals to be sent to the AKP Pendik District Presidency from the mayor's office. These expenditures were emphasized as a waste of public resources.
