Avalanches and Landslides: Disruptions and Safety Measures

In recent days, avalanches and landslides in various regions of Turkey have severely affected transportation. Especially in the Karakurt region, large rock fragments fell onto the Sarıkamış-Kağızman road.
Upon drivers' reports, local administration teams were dispatched to the area to clear the rock fragments and soil accumulations. After the teams' efforts, transportation on the road has begun to resume.
In addition, a landslide occurred on the international Black Sea Coastal Road leading to the Sarp Border Gate. Giant rock fragments fell at the entrance of the Sap1 Tunnel, blocking the road.
Long vehicle queues formed due to the landslide. Fortunately, there were no vehicles passing at the time of the incident, preventing a potential disaster, and highway teams were dispatched to the area.
In Karabük, after heavy snowfall, a landslide occurred in the village of Belen in the Ovacık district, blocking the village road. Transportation is being attempted via alternative routes.

In Düzce, a similar situation occurred. A landslide in the Beyköy district caused the closure of roads to 4 villages and 2 neighborhoods. Local administration teams have started working to clear the road.
In Kastamonu, 4 village roads were closed due to landslides. Teams are conducting cleaning operations in the affected areas.
In Artvin, a landslide blocked a neighborhood road. Authorities announced that they would begin road clearing operations immediately.
