Minister Yumaklı's Alarming Statement on Forest Fires

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumaklı made critical statements regarding forest fires. He stated that we need to be on high alert regarding the risk of forest fires this year.
Yumaklı mentioned that they will position initial response vehicles and teams at 1,600 different points to intervene in fires within an average of 10 minutes.
Turkey is located in the Mediterranean Basin, making it a risky area for forest fires. In the last 10 years, 9 years have been recorded as the hottest years in history.
Minister Yumaklı stated that 87% of forest fires are unfortunately caused by human activities, emphasizing the importance of fire prevention activities.
He noted that the goal for 2025 is to reduce the initial response time to fires to 10 minutes, and that efforts are ongoing in this regard.
Finally, he urged citizens to be sensitive to forest fires. He stated that this year, the highest level of preparation has been made for combating forest fires.
