A scary fire broke out at Lake Van shore. The fire threatens the lives of many bird species in the area.

The fire started in the Göründü Wetland in Gevaş district for an unknown reason. Smoke rising from the area alerted the authorities, and police and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. Measures were taken to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

Ali Kalçık, President of the Van Environmental Association, stated that such disasters occur every year and emphasized the need for preventive measures. He pointed out that these fires cause significant damage to nature and the ecosystem.

As firefighting efforts continue, urgent measures must be taken to protect the birds in the area. Erdoğan Özel, President of the Vangölü Activists, stated that expropriation decisions should be made to protect the wetlands.
