Critical Days Ahead for Ümit Özdağ

Critical days are ahead for Ümit Özdağ! He will appear in court on June 11.
Ümit Özdağ, the leader of the Victory Party, stated that he is the longest-serving detainee under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code. He claims that his detention is primarily due to his opposition to negotiations with Öcalan and the PKK.

Özdağ will face the judge in the courtroom of Silivri Prison on Wednesday, June 11, after 142 days of detention. This trial marks a significant moment in his ongoing legal battle.
In a social media post, Özdağ expressed, "I hope to live in a Turkey where the law is applied differently for the government and the opposition, and I invite everyone who can to attend my hearing."

Özdağ reacted to the determination of the trial date, stating, "It is not justice to keep a political party leader in prison for 2.5 months and then hold him in solitary confinement for another two months with an empty indictment."
