Ümit Özdağ condemned the attack on CHP leader Özgür Özel. The attack was seen as a result of the government's high-tension policy.

In a social media post, Özdağ stated, "The damage caused by the severe economic crisis combined with the high-tension policy is significant."

Following the attack, it was reported that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation and the attacker has been detained. Özdağ emphasized the need for positive searches to prevent such incidents.

Özdağ expressed his hope that this attack would lead to positive searches to move away from the tense political process and sent his best wishes to Özgür Özel.

Many political leaders sent their best wishes after the attack. President Erdoğan called Özel to express his condolences.
