Syria Currency Change! Two Zeros to Be Removed

Syria has decided to remove two zeros from its currency by introducing new banknotes. This step aims to strengthen the Syrian Lira.
The Central Bank of Syria intends to issue a new currency by removing two zeros from the current money. This decision was made due to the Syrian Lira losing over 99% of its value against the dollar since the civil war began in 2011.
Before the war, 1 dollar was worth 50 Syrian Liras, but today this rate has reached 10,000 Liras. This situation complicates daily shopping and forces people to use the highest denomination banknotes of 5,000 Liras.
The new banknotes will not feature the faces of Bashar Assad and his father Hafiz Assad. This change carries not only economic but also political significance.

Syria plans to restart international money transfers with this change. This step is seen as part of Syria's efforts to integrate into the global financial sector.
