Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu expressed that he would not have been arrested if he had joined AKP. He stated, "I prefer to be free inside rather than being a prisoner outside."

Mutlu emphasized that he was elected as a candidate of the Republican People's Party and would never change this stance. He said, "My forehead is clear, and my head is held high."

Believing that the political operations were directed at him, Mutlu stated, "I did not eat haram, nor did I chase after rent."

Hasan Mutlu continues to stay in Silivri Prison after his arrest. He expressed that he maintains hope, saying, "Dark days will surely end."

Fighting for the future of Bayrampaşa, Mutlu stated that he would continue to uphold the people's will. "Remember; dark days will surely end," he said.
