The Situation of Pensioners in AKP's Circles and Economic Crisis

The situation of pensioners is on the agenda in AKP circles. How does the economic crisis affect the living standards of pensioners?
Musa Kocaman, the President of the Confederation of Civil Servants and Pensioners, calculated the losses of pensioners during the 20 years of AKP rule. In 2005, a pensioner could buy 1456 bagels with their pension, but this number dropped to 723 by 2025. That's a loss of 733 bagels!
Kocaman stated that the pension should be 105,000 TL today. For a pensioner to buy 15 quarter gold, their salary must reach this level. Pensioners are the backbone of this country.

Onur Çanakçı pointed out that the economic crisis has hit the pensioners, who are the AKP's voter base, the hardest. Pensioners not only affect their own living standards but also the future of the youth.
The biggest problem pensioners face is the inadequacy of their pensions. Recent increases in the prices of basic consumer goods have made life even harder for pensioners.

The AKP has submitted a bill to the Turkish Grand National Assembly to raise the pension bonus to 4,000 TL. This year, bonuses will also be paid during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha.
However, the economic struggles faced by pensioners cannot be solved merely with bonuses. More comprehensive policies are needed to improve the living standards of pensioners.
