Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş has requested the release of Murat Çalık, who has fallen ill in prison. Yavaş stated that this situation amounts to murder.

Yavaş emphasized that Çalık's health condition is critical and that it is unacceptable for him to remain detained under these circumstances. Çalık has lost 18 kilos in prison and is at risk of leukemia.

Mansur Yavaş stated, "Murat Çalık cannot be tried after he dies. A person in such serious health cannot be kept in detention like this."

Çalık's lawyers have pointed out in health reports that prison conditions are unsuitable for him and have called for his release.

Yavaş reiterated, "Continuing Murat Çalık's detention is murder," drawing attention to the situation.
