CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made significant statements following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Özel stated, "If I believe that İmamoğlu will defeat Erdoğan, then he believes it a thousand times more. Turkey is currently facing a coup attempt."

Özgür Özel called for the polls for the presidential primary elections on March 23, saying, "Even if we are in the grave, we invite people to the ballot box."

The CHP leader emphasized that using power to override the people's will is a coup and that the reactions to İmamoğlu's detention will grow.

Özel reiterated that the will of the people will always prevail and that they will not surrender to such actions.
