Konya Plain is facing serious problems due to climate change and drought in recent years. Water levels in reservoirs are alarming.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that drinking water sources have reached critical levels. Especially, the filling rate of the Altınapa Dam has dropped to 6%.

Drought is causing significant yield losses in agriculture. This year, a 15% loss in wheat and a 30% loss in barley are expected.

Mayor Altay warned citizens about water conservation and emphasized the value of every drop of water. He mentioned that they are working on alternative solutions to protect water resources.

The effects of climate change vary from city to city. Konya is one of the cities under the threat of drought in this regard.
