Climate Change is an Immediate Threat to Turkey

Climate change is a clear threat to Turkey. Minister Kurum made significant statements on this issue.
During the Climate Change and Adaptation Coordination Council meeting held in Ankara, it was emphasized that the climate crisis is one of humanity's greatest challenges. It was noted that wildlife populations have decreased by 73% over the last 50 years.
The reduction of freshwater resources and the fact that 3 out of every 4 people face the threat of drought were highlighted. This situation underscores the seriousness of the climate crisis.
Minister Kurum stated that recent floods and forest fires have confronted our country with severe consequences. The climate crisis is not a distant scenario for Turkey, but an immediate threat.

It was stated that Turkey's first Climate Law has been enacted to combat climate change, and emission reduction targets have been increased. This law is expected to enhance the shift towards renewable energy sources.
Minister Kurum announced that the details of the Second National Contribution Declaration will be shared at the COP 30 Conference. This meeting is expected to reinforce Turkey's leadership role in the fight against the climate crisis.
