Earthquake Disaster in Balıkesir: Citizens Spent the Night Outside

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Balıkesir Sındırgı, felt in Istanbul and surrounding provinces.
Due to aftershocks, many citizens had to spend the night outside. Some slept in their cars, while others used blankets and pillows on the ground.
Retired teacher Vahit Çakmak mentioned that there was not much damage to the house, but there were cracks in the plaster. He stated they spent the night outside.

Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak announced that damage assessment would be conducted in the morning and that buildings needing urgent demolition would be evacuated quickly.
The 4.4 magnitude aftershock that occurred at midnight increased citizens' fears. Authorities warned them not to enter their homes.
