Recent floods and frost disasters in Turkey have deeply affected the agricultural sector. Farmers are seeking government support.

In the Çukurova region of Adana, the frost event that began on February 22 caused significant losses in agriculture. Night temperatures dropped to minus 8 degrees, leading to losses of 50% to 80% in citrus and other products.

Ahencan Tayakası, President of the Adana Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, stated that this disaster will directly reflect on the prices of vegetables and fruits. This situation will negatively affect both producers and consumers.

Farmers are experiencing a tough year due to the effects of climate change. The lack of a declaration of agricultural disaster by the government has drawn criticism from farmers. They say, "If government support doesn't come, prices will explode."

Experts emphasize that farmers' debts should be postponed; otherwise, it will be difficult to continue production. This situation also jeopardizes Turkey's food sovereignty.
