20 Suspects Arrested in Istanbul Gold Refinery Investigation

In the investigation of the Istanbul Gold Refinery, 20 suspects have been arrested. The operation began with allegations of misuse of state support.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated the investigation, which includes allegations of public harm by officials of IAR A.Ş. and related companies. Out of 23 suspects detained, 20 have been arrested.

The investigation was launched after allegations of misuse of the 3% state support provided to companies that facilitate foreign currency inflow through exports. It is claimed that the suspects established 24 new companies to benefit from this support.
In a simultaneous operation conducted in 12 districts of Istanbul, 21 individuals were detained. The investigation, which has drawn attention due to allegations of state harm, continues.

The Istanbul Gold Refinery, owned by the Halaç family, has an annual processing capacity of 380 tons of gold. The investigation also questions the company's past practices.
