A double appeal has been made against the detention of retired Colonel Orkun Özeller. He was taken into custody due to his statements against MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli.

Özeller was detained at the Ordu Courthouse with his lawyer. His lawyers appealed both the detention and the investigation being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Özeller's lawyer stated that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was unauthorized. The complainant, Devlet Bahçeli, resides in Ankara, while Özeller's residence is in Ordu.

Özeller had mentioned receiving threats on social media following his statements about Bahçeli. This was cited as the reason for the detention order.
