Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu emphasized the need to protect Istanbul against profit-driven projects.

İmamoğlu recalled the vision of the capital Ankara established in the 20th century, stating that Istanbul is being betrayed in the 21st century. He stressed the importance of preserving the city's historical and cultural heritage.

İmamoğlu pointed out that the drinking water lines of Istanbul are under threat and that this situation will add extra population pressure on the city. He emphasized that this visionlessness must come to an end.

He stated, 'Our historical responsibility is to protect Istanbul and leave a livable homeland for future generations,' calling for a fight for the future of Istanbul.
